Root canal treatment: It is indicated when the nerve is irreversibly affected causing severe pain and infection. It involves the removal of one or multiple nerves within a tooth, the cleaning and shaping of the empty space where the nerves used to be followed by irrigation with a disinfecting solution and a special filler material. This process may take more than one visit.
There are several reasons a tooth may need a root canal treatment. The majority of times there is a very large cavity; which is either lying on top of the nerve or very close to it. In this case the nerve is affected by the cavity and the tooth starts hurting.
